Living in Milan is generally very expensive. In fact, Milan is a city that attracts people from all over the world, whether to do a course of study or an experience of realization of your life project.

ACCOMODATION

Living in Milan entails the cost of food and accommodation. Rents and shopping at the supermarket are not low but, as we will see, the fact of having a great choice available can help you save.

The expense is obviously more expensive in the center and is lowered by going to the suburbs.

The city is full of supermarkets and this gives an advantage to those who live there.
There are also many bigger and more advantageous malls just outside the city centre.

As far as rents are concerned, there is a large disparity between the centre, the periphery and the province.
Approximate costs are 350-600€ per month for a room, 600-1,000 € per month for a studio apartment and from 1,000 € per month and up for larger apartments.
Difficult to find a two-room apartment for less than 1,200 € per month. The more you go to the center, the more expensive it is. Moreover, it is the most important city in Italy.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Public transport is operated by the company ATM.

Prices are in line with the national average:

  • monthly subscription costs 39 €
  • weekly subscription costs 17€;
  • annual subscription costs 330 €.

BILLS


Electricity and gas bills are similar to the rest of the country.
As an example a house of 100 square meters will spend on average 100 € - 120 € per month.

Parking fees are charged. Rates increase as you approach the center, starting at 1.3 euros per hour.
