In Milan there is plenty of choice when it comes to public transport. You can run underground jumping in one of the subway cars, you can board one of the old trams of the twenties or on a trolleybus of the latest generation.
The ticket can be used for unlimited rides on buses, trams, subways and on the urban route of the Passante Ferroviario. It must always be validated at the beginning of the trip and at each change of means otherwise you run the risk of taking a fine, which in Milan starts from 35 euros but could rise up to 90 euros.
Within the metro stations and on buses 56, 70 and 73 you can travel by paying directly with a contactless card belonging to certain circuits.

Milan has four metro lines : M1 Red (red), M2 Green (green), M3 Yellow (yellow) and M5 Lilac (purple) that connect the city to the suburbs. The M4 Blue (Blue) is under construction.
